French Nightlife Oil Painting By Raymond Houlihan (1923 - 1991)
Untitled oil paint on board depicting a vibrant Parisian nightlife scene, in a beaded decorative frame with museum glass. Raymond Houlihan was assigned as a combat soldier to a front-line armored division in Europe during World War II. There, he sketched real-time accounts of what he witnessed. After the war, Houlihan continued to paint and sketch people in city scenes such as Paris and New York City. he also became a famed newspaper cartoonist. Matted and framed in a painted wood frame with glass. Signed “R. Houlihan” on bottom right corner. Undated.
